Why your faith in God needs to grow in 2016

One of the things that we ought to continually expect as believers is our faith to grow.

Our faith not in man or human institution but in God. God in this context is not the self proclaimed human being or act but the sovereign God, the maker of heaven and earth. The one who is the I AM. The Omni potent, Omni present and Omni scient. Faith is like a seed. . .plant it in your heart and your mind and at the appointed time. . .God will give you a mega harvest of what you need just when you need it.

Colossians 2:7(New Living Translation)

“Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.”

Smith Wigglesworth, “How can one come to possess great faith? Now listen, here is the answer to that: First, the blade, then the ear, then the full corn in the ear. Faith must grow by soil, moisture, and exercise.”

To grow your faith

1.     Feed your faith through the Word

Kenneth Hagin “Faith begins where the will of God is known.”

How do you know the will of God?

Psalm 34:8                                                                                                                                                                                                      “O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.”

The Message Bible translation of Psalm 34:8 says:                                                                                                   “Open your mouth and taste, open your eyes and see—how good God is.  Blessed are you who run to him.”

Psalm 119:103 in the Message Bible says:                                                                                                                 “Your words are so choice, so tasty; I prefer them to the best home cooking.  With your instruction, I understand life.”

By feeding on the Word, you never have to wonder or worry about what to do next. The Word of God is alive.  It is like food that nourishes our souls. Our faith activates the Word.

John 14:26 says:

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”

Reading the Word allows the Holy Spirit to bring to our remembrance exactly what we need to apply to our daily situations.

2.         Exercise your faith by your actions

Here are keys to exercising your faith.

-        First, what you do in life will be a reflection of what you’ve learned.                                                              John 8:38 Amplified Bible                                                                                                                                            “I tell the things which I have seen and learned at My Father’s side, and your actions also reflect what you have heard and learned from your father.”

-        Second, our greatest desire should be for our deeds to reflect His instructions.                                           Psalm 119:5New Living Translation                                                                                                            “Oh, that my actions would consistently reflect your decrees!”

-        Third, faith must be an action or it will always be inactive.                                                                               James 2:17 Amplified Bible                                                                                                                                                                                “So also faith, if it does not have works (deeds and actions of obedience to back it up), by itself is destitute of power (inoperative, dead).”

-        Fourth, it’s a team effort. . .faith. . .knowing that God’s Word is true. . .and actions which unleash faith into the natural realm.                                                                                                                       James 2:22 New Living Translation                                                                                                              “You see, his faith and his actions worked together. His actions made his faith complete.”

-        Fifth, you will be rewarded for the actions you take. . .and consequences when you don’t. Proverbs 24:12 New Living Translation                                                                                              “Don’t excuse yourself by saying, “Look, we didn’t know.” For God understands all hearts, and he sees you. He who guards your soul knows you knew. He will repay all people as their actions deserve.”

-        Sixth, our commitment to bring glory and honor to His name. . .will automatically bring success to ours.                                                                                                                                                                                                  Proverbs 16:3 New Living Translation                                                                                                “Commit your actions to the LORD, and your plans will succeed.”

-        Seventh, you’ll be paid for your faithful actions.                                                                                                Revelation 22:12 Amplified Bible                                                                                                                                                                                          “Behold, I am coming soon, and I shall bring My wages and rewards with Me, to repay and render to each one just what his own actions and his own work merit.”
