Vandals Nabbed

At least 15 people were arrested in Murang'a county for vandalising and stealing Kenya Power Company cables, transformers and aluminium conductors.

The fifteen were arrested following a tip off by members of public and residents tired of constant disruptions in electricity supply due to vandalism.

Kenya Power security manager Fredrick Ledelea said that the fifteen will be arraigned in court by police for theft and malicious destruction of property. He lauded the residents for assisting security agents arrest the criminals.

Those arrested are scheduled to appear before the Kigumo Law courts Chief Magistrate on Thursday 17th December 2015.

Ledelea said that such coordination between residents and security agents has reduced vandalism and theft cases from 100 cases per month two years ago to only 17 cases reported in a month.
