Uhuru appoints First female brigadier

President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed the first female Brigadier in Kenya Defence Force's (KDF's) history in the latest military postings and promotions announced on Tuesday........

President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed the first female Brigadier in Kenya Defence Force's (KDF's) history in the latest military postings and promotions announced on Tuesday.
 President Uhuru promoted Colonel Fatumah Ahmed to the rank of a Brigadier and appointed her the Managing Director Defence Forces Medical Insurance Scheme(DEFMIS).
 Brigadier Ahmed, a Kenya Air Force officer has risen through ranks and is recognized as a hard working officer who has set the standards for all serving female military officers.

 "Following the afore listed postings, promotions and appointments, it is noteworthy to highlight that the Kenya Defence Forces now has the First female Brigadier – Brigadier Fatumah Ahmed, promoted to Brigadier and appointed Managing Director Defence Forces Medical Insurance Scheme," the statement from Ministry of Defence said. The announcement was made yesterday by president Uhuru Kenyatta, who is the Commander-In - Chief of the Defence Forces on the advice of the Defence Council, Chaired by Defence Cabinet Secretary Amb Raychelle Omamo.

 The Navy Commander Major General Ngewa Mukala​ has been redeployed to Defence Staff College and appointed Commandant. While Major General George Mayamba Owinow​ has been posted to Kenya Military Academy and appointed Commandant. Brigadier Levi Franklin Mghalu has been promoted to Major General and appointed Kenya Navy Commander replacing Major General Mukala.
  
 Colonel George Odhiambo Walwa has been promoted to the rank of Brigadier and appointed Chief of Operations(Defence Headquarters). Colonel William K Karisa Shume​ has been promoted to Brigadier and appointed Commander 6 Brigade. Colonel Henry Noah Ofulah has been promoted to Brigadier and appointed Commander. Kahawa Garrison. Colonel Patrick Muta Nderitu ​​​Promoted to Brigadier and appointed Director International Peace Support Training Centre.
  
 Colonel Godfrey Aumah Peter Buluma has been ​Promoted to Brigadier and appointed Chief of Operations, Plans & Training (Kenya Army headquarters). Colonel James Magige Gitiba ​​Promoted to Brigadier and appointed  Chief of Logistics. (Headquarters Kenya Army).
  
 Colonel Simon Mureithi Wachira​ has been Promoted to Brigadier and appointed Deputy Commandant/Chief Instructor Defence Staff College.Colonel Vincent Naisho Loonena​​Promoted to Brigadier and appointed  Base Commander Mtongwe. Colonel Martin Kizito Onyango Ong’oyi ​has been promoted to Brigadier and appointed Chief of Personnel (Defence HQs).
  
 Colonel Daniel Kimutai Pyaban​Promoted to Brigadier and appointed Commander Kenya Rapid Deployment Capability.Following the afore listed postings, promotions and appointments, it is noteworthy to highlight that the Kenya Defence Forces now has the First female Brigadier – Brigadier Fatumah Ahmed, promoted to Brigadier and appointed Managing Director Defence Forces Medical Insurance Scheme.
