Gor and Leopards out of the GOtv Shield tournament

Gor Mahia suffered a major shock when they were tossed out of the GOtv Shield at the round of 16 stage by National Super League side Nzoia United after being edged out 1-0 loss at the Mumias Sugar Sports Complex on Sunday.

Gor now join their arch rivals AFC Leopards who were humiliated 3-0 by Western Stima on Saturday afternoon in Kisumu.

Gor, who are undergoing a miserable spell without a win for the last five games were stunned by the second-tier Nzoia United who ply their trade in the nationwide league.

The loss is likely to increase pressure on the Kogalo coach Jose "Ze Maria" Ferreira, who will certainly face a difficult week.

The all-important goal that tossed Gor out of the tournament was notched in by Edgar Nzano in the 30th minutes through a penalty.

The introduction of Baron Oketch and Meddie Kagere for Ernest Wendo and Luke Ochieng respectively could not salvage anything for Gor.

On the other hand Bandari booked their ticket to the quarter finals when they beat Bidco United 1-0.

Meanwhile, Gor have sacked their goalkeeping coach Matthew Ottamax Owino. The goalkeeping coach who is a former Kenya international goalkeeper said he was verbally sacked by the Gor coach Ferreira.
